Meet Psychic Lauryn: My Journey, My Work & What I've Learned Along the Way
I was recently invited to be featured in Bold Journey Magazine, where I had the opportunity to talk about my journey as a psychic, psychic development coach, and business owner, along with some of the lessons I've learned along the way.
I especially enjoyed this interview because it gave me a chance to talk about some of the parts of building a career in the spiritual industry that don't always get talked about, including self-doubt, imposter syndrome, finding confidence in your work, and what it actually looks like to build something of your own.
I've spent more than a decade developing my own psychic practice and helping other people develop their intuitive abilities, and a huge part of my work today is helping aspiring psychics move beyond simply having intuitive experiences and learn how to actually understand, practice, and trust their abilities.
I also believe strongly in making psychic development feel more grounded, practical, and approachable. You don't have to fit a certain stereotype to explore your intuition, and you don't have to have everything figured out before you start taking your abilities seriously.

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Psychic Lauryn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Psychic Lauryn, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Thank you so much for having me! I love this question because I think imposter syndrome is something we don’t talk about honestly enough, especially in the spiritual industry. I’m Psychic Lauryn, a psychic development coach and founder of the Psychic Development Society, where I help aspiring intuitives develop their intuitive abilities in a grounded, practical, and ethical way. What’s funny is that many of the fears my students bring to me today are the exact same ones I had when I started: Am I just making this up? Am I really psychic enough? What if I’m wrong? What if I mislead someone?
As a theater kid growing up, I learned something that’s stayed with me my entire life: confidence often follows action, not the other way around. Before walking on stage, you don’t always feel confident. Sometimes you have to step into the role first, trust your preparation, and let your confidence catch up. That lesson translated surprisingly well into entrepreneurship and psychic development. I wasn’t pretending to have abilities I didn’t have. I was trusting that if I kept practicing, studying, and showing up, my confidence would eventually match my competence.
Over the years, that’s exactly what happened. I studied with incredible mentors, investing in my education, practicing thousands of readings, learning from my mistakes, and continually refining my craft. Every reading and class gave me more experience and deepened my understanding. I think that’s a healthy mindset: there should always be room to grow.
One of my biggest confidence boosters was and is teaching. When you spend years breaking down psychic development, answering hundreds of questions, helping students work through their blocks, and watching them become more accurate and trust themselves, you realize how much you’ve actually learned yourself. Teaching has a way of keeping your fresh in your craft and revealing your own mastery.
It probably also helps that I’m a Virgo rising with a Gemini Midheaven. I genuinely love studying, organizing information, and refining systems. I’m the kind of person who gets excited about taking something that feels mysterious and making it practical and teachable!
Truthfully, I still have moments where that little voice pops up. Imposter syndrome doesn’t completely disappear, no matter what field you’re in. The difference is that I no longer let it make my decisions. Instead, I trust the years I’ve invested in developing my skills, the experience I’ve gained, and the results I’ve seen in both my own readings and my students’ growth.
That’s also what I hope to give my students in the Psychic Development Society. The goal is for them to become professional readers who’ve built enough skill, integrity, and experience that a moment of self-doubt doesn’t stop them from showing up.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a psychic medium, content creator, and educator, I help people develop their intuition in a way that’s grounded and real. Whether someone comes to me for a psychic reading or to learn how to strengthen their own intuitive abilities, my goal is always the same: to make spirituality feel approachable instead of intimidating.
What excites me most is helping people realize that intuition isn’t a gift reserved for a select few. I believe it’s a skill that can be developed with the right guidance, consistent practice, and a healthy dose of skepticism. In an industry that’s often filled with stereotypes, I’ve built my business around the idea that intuition and logic can coexist. I encourage my students to ask questions, think critically, and develop their abilities just like any skill you might master.
One of my favorite parts of my work is watching people go from constantly second-guessing themselves to genuinely trusting what they’re receiving. So many aspiring psychics believe they’re “not psychic enough” or that everyone else has some special gift they don’t. Then, with practice, feedback, and mentorship, they realize how wrong those limiting beliefs were. Seeing that transformation never gets old!
Outside of readings and coaching, I also create educational content through YouTube, social media, and my Psychic Development Society, where I’ve built a community of spiritually curious people who want to continue learning together. I love taking topics that can feel mysterious or overwhelming and breaking them down into something people can actually understand and apply in their everyday lives.
Right now, I’m especially excited about launching my Psychic Development Academy, my highest-level mentorship for aspiring and professional psychics who are ready to move beyond simply having intuitive experiences and into true mastery. My vision is to help raise the standard of the psychic industry by developing practitioners who are not only accurate, but also ethical, confident, reliable, and professional. The Academy combines advanced psychic development with business mentorship, to turn their skills and passions into a sustainable career. More than anything, I want my students to be recognized for their integrity as much as their intuition. I believe that’s how we elevate the profession and create lasting trust in an industry that needs more grounded, ethical voices.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I can trace so much of who I am as a teacher and coach back to one of my earliest mentors, Karen Fox. She was incredibly ethical, skeptical, and grounded in the way she approached psychic development. She encouraged questions instead of blind belief, emphasized practice over overnight success, and taught that integrity should always come before ego. That philosophy became the foundation of how I approach my own work, and I’ve heard time and time again from clients and students that they appreciate how “real” my teaching approach feels. One of the best compliments I receive is that I make spirituality approachable without making it feel overly “woo-woo.”
If I had to narrow it down to three qualities that have shaped my journey, they would be integrity, a commitment to mastery, and the ability to bring structure to the mystical.
To me, integrity also includes healthy skepticism. I don’t think spirituality and critical thinking are opposites and should be ujsed in balance. I encourage my students to ask questions, test what they’re receiving, and never feel pressured to accept something just because someone claims it’s true. I also think integrity means being okay with not always telling people what they want to hear. If someone comes to me hoping I’ll confirm a specific outcome, my job isn’t to make them happy. It’s to share what I’m genuinely receiving as honestly and compassionately as I can.
The second is a commitment to mastery. I truly believe psychic ability is a skill that can be developed. Just like learning an instrument or a new language, it requires practice, feedback, repetition, and patience. That belief is incredibly empowering because it means intuition isn’t reserved for a gifted few. Everyone starts somewhere. I’ve spent years studying with mentors, investing in my education, giving thousands of readings, and continuing to refine my craft. The more I learn, the more I realize there’s always another level to grow into. My advice is to stop asking, “Am I naturally gifted enough?” and start asking, “How can I practice today?” That question will take you much further.
The third is bringing structure to something that often feels intangible. One of my favorite things to do is take concepts that seem ethereal or overwhelming and break them down into practical, teachable steps. I’ve always believed that people learn best when they have a roadmap. Instead of telling someone to “just trust your intuition,” I’d rather give them exercises, frameworks, and techniques they can actually practice. When people understand how something works, they’re much more likely to stick with it, build confidence, and see real progress.
If you’re just starting out, I’d encourage you to stay curious, commit to practicing regularly, and let integrity guide every decision you make. Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to challenge what you’re learning. Remember that confidence comes from experience.. Most importantly, don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Every accurate, ethical reader you admire started exactly where you are now.
How would you describe your ideal client?
I honestly enjoy working with people at every stage of their journey. Some of my clients are just beginning to explore their intuition, while others are experienced readers who want to sharpen their skills or build a professional practice. My ideal client is someone who’s always felt drawn to spirituality and intuition but isn’t looking for more fluff or vague advice. They’re curious, open-minded, and probably already know they have intuitive abilities, but are second-guesses themselves constantly. They want to trust themelves more, but they don’t always know where to start or who to learn from.
A lot of my students have spent years piecing together information from books, YouTube videos, or different teachers, but they’re overwhelmed because everyone seems to teach something different. What they’re really looking for is someone who can help them make sense of it all. They want practical tools, clear step-by-step directions, and a community to practice with.
That’s exactly why I created the Psychic Development Society. It’s a place for people who are curious, want to strengthen their intuition, and are looking for a supportive community where they can learn, ask questions, and practice in an encouraging environment. Whether someone is just discovering their abilities or has been developing them for years, I wanted to create a space where they could continue growing without feeling overwhelmed or judged.
For those who discover they want to take it even further, that’s where the Psychic Development Academy comes in. The Academy is for students who have built a strong foundation and are ready to refine their skills, deepen their accuracy, and become truly exceptional readers. Many of them also want to build a professional entreprenuer practice but aren’t sure how to bridge the gap between being a good reader and becoming a trusted professional. My goal is to help them master their craft while also giving them the confidence, ethics, and practical business skills to serve clients well and build a practice they’re genuinely proud of.
